16 Good Things We’ve Bought Recently
Our sister business and sponsor, Glen Dye Cabins and Cottages, will soon have a new -seriously special- addition to the group of holiday homes. With building work and refurbishments done, walls perfectly painted, it’s time for Charlie Gladstone’s favourite task: filling it with well-designed goods.
This list comprises of items bought recently for Glen Dye Cabins and Cottages, The Glynne Arms, our offices and Charlie’s home.

Two new sets of the best steak/table knives we’ve ever owned. Somehow we lost about ten of these last year and now we have more. Simple everyday classics from the makers of the world’s best penknives, Opinel.

For Glen Dye, we have some more exceptional large corten steel planters. Corten Steel is designed to rust and these strike a lovely balance between rustic, old fashioned and truly modern.

Country Fire Kitchen is the absolute go-to for great outdoor cooking kit. These are the real things, made in Britain. We bought a load of stuff, including two of these, one for Glen Dye and one for Hawarden.

And for our latest property at Glen Dye, I bought made in Britain lamps from the excellent Nocturne Works.

Alex Pole’s range of kitchen ironwork is expanding and becoming more beautiful by the month. This stuff will last forever.

A truly lovely, light, surprising sparkling wine from Italy.

Simple affordable glasses from France.

I am eying up the beautiful ceramics of Tanya McCallin on Hole & Corner’s online shop.

I’d happily take everything in David Shrigley’s new shop in Copenhagen which is founded in partnership with his friend and gallerist Nicolai Wallner.

Boring but life enhancing. I bought some toughened non-stick pans from Le Creuset and we all absolutely love them.

Montezuma’s white chocolate buttons. The best £3.99 you will ever spend.

I bought four more of these amazing Artemide lamps for the cottages at Glen Dye.

This is a good tea pot.
It’s good because it is made in Britain, it looks amazing, it works well and it’s ethically sourced. Our tea pot was designed by 1882ltd in Stoke-on-Trent by 5th generation makers. No corners were cut in making this product.
